Case Study

Boston Symphony Orchestra

Today the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Inc., presents more than 250 concerts annually. It is an ensemble that has richly fulfilled Henry Lee Higginson's vision of a great and permanent orchestra in Boston.

The Need

Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO) were looking for a partner that understood Umbraco inside-out and were relatively local to the offices in Boston. Scandia fit those requirements and we've been working with the BSO Web team since 2017.  They were specifically looking for someone to come in and handle all of the custom application code and features related to performances, e-commerce components, and overall site maintenance.

The Solution

Scandia's engineers have been working with the BSO Web developers and staff to upgrade the core system that supports the programming of all performances, Tessitura. The older version of this platform was using a SOAP API integration that was outdated and not as performant as it could be. Our developers and infrastructure engineers worked on learning this platform and replacing the entire integration with the new Restful API service from Tessitura version 15.

In addition to this specific project, we are the support team for new development initiatives related to any of the BSO brands (Boston Pops, Tanglewood, BSO, and Symphony Hall).
