Results & Metrics
The headless Umbraco + Shopify architecture Scandia delivered empowered Calyx to operate with speed, confidence, and creative control—without compromising technical integrity. Campaigns that once took weeks can now go live in hours, and product updates happen in real time, synced directly from Shopify to the site. The new CMS architecture dramatically reduced the need for developer intervention, allowing the marketing team to take ownership of content, campaign rollout, and optimization. Performance metrics reflect this evolution: higher engagement on mobile, smoother launches, and a scalable system ready for growth.

The Challenge
As a fast-growing packaging company serving the cannabis industry, Calyx operates in a uniquely complex digital landscape. While their team had a bold brand, a sharp design partner, and a fast-moving go-to-market strategy, their legacy platform couldn't keep up with the pace—or the precision—they needed.
Key issues included:
- Rigid CMS limitations that blocked marketing from launching campaigns quickly
- Disconnected eCommerce experience, with product and content pages managed in different systems
- Manual workflows for product updates, inventory, and promotions
- Limited ability to highlight storytelling initiatives, like Calyx's collaborations with glass artists
A particularly urgent challenge involved Calyx's Art of Glass campaign—a stunning collaboration with independent glass artists. Their existing site didn’t offer the flexibility or visual tools needed to showcase these intricate pieces. They needed a microsite that could tell the story, display the work beautifully, and reflect the brand’s passion for craft and culture.

The Approach
Unified Frontend, Real-Time Backend
Scandia worked closely with Calyx and design partner 828 Studios to bring their brand story and product catalog under one seamless UX.
We delivered a headless Umbraco implementation that:
- Pulls live product data from Shopify in real time
- Displays dynamic pricing, variants, and availability
- Handles cart behavior and redirects to Shopify checkout
- Custom Editor Experience
To empower the Calyx marketing team, we built a flexible library of components within Umbraco, including:
- Campaign and promo banners
- Product grid layouts
- Testimonials and culture modules
- SEO tools and tagging system
- A/B test–ready landing page framework
We needed speed, flexibility, and a platform that could grow with us. Scandia delivered exactly that—bridging our content and commerce into one seamless experience. Now we launch campaigns in hours, not weeks.

The Solution
The new calyxcontainers.com is an immersive, scalable, commerce-enabled platform designed to unify storytelling, ecommerce, and brand experience.
- At the core of the project was a full migration from Craft CMS to Umbraco, enabling Calyx to:
- Centralize content and commerce under a single, more flexible CMS
- Eliminate technical debt and streamline future development workflows
- Empower internal teams with a modular, easy-to-use editorial system
- Scale faster with more advanced integration capabilities and dev tooling
Key platform features include:
- Shopify API integration for live product data, inventory, and checkout routing
- Drag-and-drop CMS component library built in Umbraco for rapid campaign creation
- ADA-compliant, mobile-first layouts with bold visual storytelling
- Dynamic routing engine to align content strategy with product discovery
- Reusable content modules to maintain brand consistency across all campaigns
To support Calyx’s creative ambitions, Scandia also built a dedicated Art of Glass microsite, featuring an immersive 3D viewer that allows users to spin, zoom, and explore each custom-blown piece. The result is a platform that not only sells products—it shares culture, celebrates craft, and scales with the brand’s growth.

What's Next
With a powerful content-commerce engine in place, Calyx is exploring:
- Personalized user journeys based on industry, role, or region
- Multi-region support for expanding markets
- Enhanced analytics for conversion optimization
- Future product lines supported via dynamic catalog templates
Scandia remains a trusted partner in scaling Calyx’s digital experience—continuously optimizing the engine that powers their next big product drop.
